Good Friday 2005...And God's Winnowing Floor

Good Friday 2005 and my first blog. So, I'm getting a jump on the re-launch as announced on the Northern Alliance Radio Network (http://www.northernallianceradio.com/ and AM1280 The Patriot, Saturday 12-3 p.m.) and their 1st Annual Anniversary show.
A bit of my philosophy:
I am a born again Christian. All things flow from that. Now, that being said I also need to add that I am a very poor excuse for a Christian. I certainly have feet of clay and am clear that I all too much human. I'm not terribly shy (could we imagine a blogger who would be? Well, on second thought, many can be brave where anonymity is fairly well guaranteed. Dad used to call that being brave in the living room. Depending on where they type, Dad never knew how right he was about bloggers).
Most would also call me a conservative. After much consideration (the obligatory minimum 14 seconds, as my Dad used to say), I'm doing all I can to drop the term conservative. A few years back a Christian related how a left winger was screaming "You Christians are trying to take over the country!" To which the Christian replied " Oh my,no. Not at all. We're taking it back."
I have no desire to conserve what
's here. Why preserve a decayed body? As I said during the 2000, 2002 and 2004 campaign, my idea of liberty is not slowing down the growth of socialism and decay of liberty from a Wellstonian 189 mph to a mere 97 mph and call that conservative progress. I want freedom, liberty. And all the risks and responsibilities that liberty entails.
In the movie "Gladiator" before Maximus battles
Tigris of Gaul, as he is walking up the ramp, he turns to his fellow gladiators and says "Marcus Aurelius had a vision for Rome. This is not it.THIS-IS-NOT-IT!" As I read my pocket Constitution, the Federalist Papers, the Declaration of Independence, listen to and read the Supreme Court decisions, come across Bible passages and reflect on Bastiat's "The Law" (a superb book that I encourage you to read http://www.constitution.org/law/bastiat.htm, written by a Frenchman 155 years ago in response to the birth and raise of French socialism), I realize that what we have is not what the Founding Fathers envisioned for us. What they had envisioned for us,bled for,died for,risked everything for, that is what I want.
This blog, my blog, will be about local,
state, national and international issues and topics.
No one is safe from my observations...including me. Left wingers, right wingers anyone. The Savage Republican motto "Crush
ing liberals, left and right" is a warning that just being a Republican does NOT mean that one is a conservative... sorry, I mean liberty lover. Far, far too often I hear the term Republican and conservative used interchangeably. Can anyone say Olympia Snow? John McCain? Christie Todd Whitman? Class? Class? Lincoln Chafee? Arlen Specter? Again class? Anyone? Class?
I reserve the right to be wrong, incorrect, change my mind and tell you "Now that I think about it..." or "It appears that I was..." and the always pointed "What was I thinking, assuming that the mental process that I was involved with at the time could possibly pass for thinking?" Some of my most belly-busting laughs have been at my expense.

But, today is Good Friday and a deeper introduction can, and should certainly wait-
"
WE hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness -- That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, "

And what is this instituted government doing to protect the first listed of these self-evident, God endowed unalienable rights for Terry Schiavo? One branch of government has deferred not to her expressed wishes, but the hearsay, anecdotal, late remembered musings of her estranged husband. Well, for my Ockham's razor I prefer the first sentence of the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence (see above).
Many would say "Well, this is a complicated case and situation." Aaahhh...no. It's a very simple situation that's been made complicated. And the irony of the opening of the Declaration of Independence and the quote from John Adams regarding the Declaration (this is for all of you who keep carping that the Founders were deists and not Christians) :

“Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of The Redeemers’ mission upon earth? That it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity?” -John Quincy Adams
And all this on the day we Christians celebrate the fulfillment of The R
edeemers mission on earth. The day The Giver of Life gave up His life that we may live again. Fully. With liberty. Reconciled to God the Father as full sons and daughters as Jesus is. Reconciled to Jesus the Son as full brothers and sisters.
And when we ALL appear before Jesus on Judgment Day, how will we give account for what we did, or did not do, for this innocent, vulnerable and helpless sister of ours?



To the left we have a picture of Joshua Heldreth, 10 years old, of Charlotte, NC. He is being arrested for trespassing. And the genesis of the trespassing charge? He was attempting to enter Woodside Hospice in Pinellas, Fl to give Terry Schiavo a glass of water.
I count at least four armed deputies, with extra clips of ammunition, mace and handcuffs to arrest a 10 year old boy for trying to give a drink of water to a dying woman. The Good Samaritan would be risking life without parole if he ventured into this situation.
So, let me ask-the powers of the institut

Gabriel Keys, same charge as Joshua. I'm sure that the armed deputies were relieved with the lower level of danger presented by Master Keys as compared with Master Heldreth as evidenced by only 2 armed deputies taking this desperado and dangerous scofflaw into custody. Little did I know just what danger a glass of water presented to the deputies and those at the hospice. Trust me, I'll have new and cautious respect for my morning shower.
Sarcasm aside, it occurr
ed to me that Terry Schiavo is a winnowing event from The Lord for America. We are on His threshing room floor. The Lord is weighing us in His balance ... and I greatly fear that we are being found grossly wanting. The Lord is gracious, long suffering and incredibly patient...but not infinitely patient.
